Elowah Falls from upper trail (Steve Hart)

Description

Elowah Falls has created a huge amphitheater by eroding away numerous lava flows. One of the flows, actually an entablature layer, is softer than many of the others and creates an obvious, shelf-like alcove all the way around the basin which now holds the trail. Today, this trail provides an outstanding view down to Elowah Falls and across the Columbia River to Hamilton Mountain and Table Mountain.
