Description

Trail builders designing the Cape Horn Trail had a problem. There was no way to connect the lower portion of the loop without crossing private land. After a bit of negotiation, the landowner has gracefully allowed the trail to be built on his land and hikers are welcome, as long as they stay on the trail. As a condition, the landowner has requested that no one parks or drops off hikers at this location. Please respect the owner's property rights and stay on the trail.

Cape Horn Landing (1846) was the second Anglo-American settlement in Washington State after Parker's Landing in Washougal. Until the railroad came through in 1908, this was a thriving steamboat port with a post office and store. Most of this bowl east of Cape Horn is private property.
