Description
The Mazama Trail is another access to the Northwest side of Mount Hood including Cairn Basin. This used to be called the Cathedral Ridge Trail. The trail goes steeply up Cathedral Ridge until it ends at the Timberline Trail at about mile 3. Then, turn left on the Timberline Trail and proceed another 0.8 miles to Cairn Basin. An alternative would be to do the McNeil Point Loop - see McNeil Point Hike.
