Description

Big Huckleberry Mountain is the site of a former lookout. Trees are growing up around the summit now, but you can still get views to Mount Adams and Mount Hood. A few glass shards and rusty nails remain of the lookout itself, but the summit is also a dry meadow blooming with Cascade wildflowers in mid-summer. You can continue from the lookout site through a band of trees, where there is a shaded campsite, to another open area with excellent views to Mount Hood.

The first lookout here was constructed in the 1920s and then rebuilt as a cabin in the 1930s and decommissioned, probably in the early 1960s.
