Driving Directions
Take I-5 north to Washington Exit 68. Head east on US 12 for roughly 62 miles. About three miles before Packwood, watch for Forest Road 21 on your right. Turn here, driving deep into the forest and passing a number of tempting turnoffs. This is a fairly good gravel road, wide enough for two cars to pass.
At 12.5 miles turn left on Forest Road 2150. There's a sign saying Chambers Lake and Snowgrass Flats where you want to go. There is just as much traffic going this way as staying on the main road. This road is about the same as Road 21 - gravel, wide enough for two cars to pass.
Follow this 2.5 miles where you keep right on 2150/040. The road left goes 0.5 miles to Chambers Lake, where there is an abandoned campground - an outhouse, no picnic tables, no water, no fees, few people. You should probably be able to find a place to camp here, even on holiday weekends.
Immediately following there is another junction. Turn right on 2150/405 to get to the Snowgrass Flats Trailhead. The road left goes to the Berry Patch Trailhead. The Berry Patch Trailhead is best for horses, and is slightly shorter if you're going up the Goat Ridge Trail. The Snowgrass Flat Trailhead is 0.4 miles closer to Snowgrass Flats.
