Description
Belknap Crater is a shield volcano that erupted over a period of about 1,500 years beginning about 1,000 B.C. The summit offers views south to Black Crater, the Three Sisters, the Husband, and Broken Top. To the north, you can see past Mount Washington's pinnacle to Black Butte, the top of Three Fingered Jack and Mount Jefferson. There are three craters here, with the largest and deepest just below the summit to the west.
