Barnhardy Road-DeGarmo Notch Road Junction

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

The junction of Barnhardy (left) and DeGarmo Notch (right) Roads, with Warner Peak in the distance (bobcat)

Description

The junction is at a high point on Barnhardy Road between the Hot Springs Campground Trailhead and the Barnhardy Cabin. Hikers can use DeGarmo Notch Road to access the high ridge of Hart Mountain and DeGarmo Notch.

Barnhardy Road is only open to vehicles from August through November. It is a deeply rutted dirt road in places, so four-wheel drive and clearance is necessary. The rest of the year, only refuge staff may drive the road.
