Description
The Barnhardy Cabin (also spelled Barnhardi) sits nestled among a shimmering grove of aspen. It's an old line shack used by livestock herders in the days when that was permitted in this part of the Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge. There is no furniture remaining, only the remnant of a stove pipe.
In the meadow below the cabin is a red SNOTELT station. This was once an aerial marker now converted to transmitting snow data by telemetry. The horizontal red bars on the contraption are measures of snow depth that could be surveyed by overflying light aircraft.
