Great report and thanks for posting the link to the coxcomb page, mandrake. I followed a section of the old grade/coxcomb trail a while back until we found this rocky outcropping for lunch and turned around, views of the wilson were just starting to come in:

Hi fellow Hikers, I have been hiking the Kings Mtn area for about 15 years or so. Mainly the designated trails. Just recently we started hiking and checking out some of the off trail ridges. The SE Ridge, Coxcomb Ridge, The East and West Ridges. I just wanted to thank all you people. We have been using your old post to help us find this Ridges and figuring out how to get to them. So thank you:) Nick
