I headed out to Eagle Creek hoping for a nice little winter conditions hike. The Gorge was in full winter dress and had to shovel my way over the plow line and on to the trailhead road. Not sure anything lower than my CRV would have made it.
The trail was drifted in and frozen hard and slick. Even with flexible crampons (and looking down at the river) it didn't seem like a good risk today. That's the "trail" to the left of the river. Only went a few dozen yards up.
Decided it would be a better to head on in to Hood River for lunch and a toodle through the artist's collectives, bookstores, coffee shops...
