The maples are growing back rapidly since the fire, and when we visited their leaves were just past the fall peak. Between the young maples and the thimbleberries, the hillsides were covered in yellow-gold bushes
.We did the hike in the late afternoon and found the views over the gorge to be really nice in the golden hour lighting.
No one else was on the trail/parking lot was empty (late afternoon on a Friday)!
