Bobcat, which is the real Tie-In Rock?
I didn't even know there was a controversy. The big boulder sitting on the ridge beyond Hiroshima Rock is what every source I look at calls Tie-in Rock. I know the reddish outcropping you're describing, basically the beginning of the climb proper, but I've never seen a name for it.
I also was unaware of the controversy. I've never seen a name for that higher point. I've called it Eliot Pulpit, because it gives one the feeling of great exposure over Eliot, even though the pics above don't adequately convey that.

Could be a painful spot this time of year: I've watched melon-sized rocks come down and bounce off of it.
Possibly an actual melon that got away from a careless mountaineer?

Does anyone know if the waterfall visible in Eliot Gorge from Inspiration Point has a name? And is there a way to get to the base of it?

Here's a report that you might find interesting, although perhaps other reports might pertain more directly to your questions.

Stranahan Falls, often mislabeled as Wallalute Falls.

Thanks for the excellent info on the "hidden" waterfalls. Looks like quite an adventure to get to either Stranahan or Wallalute falls!
