We started at the Trout Creek Trailhead near Stabler, Wa.
Not a lot of flowers or other views on the trail.
Saw a little frog at the one stream crossing.
Cross over NF-412 road and continue on the PCT for about ½ mile to a small, non-descript path up on the right side. See GPS data for turn up the hill.
This leads to a great viewpoint. There is not a lot of space on the top. But the views are great.
You can see the Columbia River, Mt Hood, Jefferson, and Mt Adams. St Helens is obscured behind trees.
This would be a great spot to camp and view the night sky.
There is a nice little ridge extension that goes off to the East. This looks like Chip exploring area.
Total Miles – 9.3. Elevation gain – 2,030. Time 4:15.
This is an out and back hike on the PCT Southbound. The hike on the way in is a moderate elevation gain.Trout Creek to View Point – 2021-06-03

I'm no zoologist, but that looks like a frog.Saw a little flog at the one stream crossing.
Oh, I hadn't noticed it's 412 at that point. It's 41 to the west, and I assumed it was 41 all the way to the east. Why would it change designation with no junction?Cross over NF-412 road and continue on the PCT
Indeed, I have eyed that. But it can't really go anywhere, it has to just fade into forest above rd 412.There is a nice little ridge extension that goes off to the East. This looks like Chip exploring area.

Flog is what I did to the frog.Oh, I hadn't noticed it's 412 at that point. It's 41 to the west, and I assumed it was 41 all the way to the east. Why would it change designation with no junction?Cross over NF-412 road and continue on the PCT
Not sure, I just used what I saw on Gaia map.Indeed, I have eyed that. But it can't really go anywhere, it has to just fade into forest above rd 412.There is a nice little ridge extension that goes off to the East. This looks like Chip exploring area.

Kelly Wagner has extolled that viewpoint. I've missed it on several previous visits to the area.
