Crawford Oaks

Post by Double Tree » November 15th, 2020, 7:49 pm

Hiker buddy Karen suggested Crawford Oaks for a hike today, since the forecast out east was mostly dry. Neither of us had done this hike before, and 6-7 miles sounded perfect.

Take The Dalles bridge across into Washington and turn right on highway 14 for about 3.5 miles to the parking and trailhead. Discover pass required.

There is a basic map at the trailhead, but the one here on OH is better. We did a nice loop which was around 1000 feet e.g. Fall color, reader boards along the way, and decent weather made for a pleasant hike.

I love that area. Although the eastern gorge gets all the love for spring flowers, I like the stark beauty of late fall-winter. Plus, you have to love the chance to escape the dreary west side rain and clouds. Looks like you got some sun!
