The first week of the opening has been canceled due to fire danger. It now is schedule to open Sept 21.

NOAA predicts snow below 2000' tonight/Saturday (Trout Lake forecast). The Mirror Lake gate is 5300', and of course the trailheads are higher. Visitors will typically drive to 5600' or a little higher. Drat. :| On Hood, we can monitor cams at Timberline/Meadows to see what develops, but on Adams I think all we can do is drive up there next week, with a Plan B in mind.

Except that it got delayed another week. I also don't know where you're seeing that forecast. The NOAA low for night at 5300' is 45*.

Well, yeah...I also checked the Timberline Lodge forecast, and it was much much warmer. Hmm. Either way, I think I'll go check it out, but be prepared for the worst.

update: 50% chance of snow Sat PM at Trout Lake, per NOAA
My alternate weather source is Mountain Weather, and their forecast is more favorable.

That's a junk forecast. Snow level was never forecasted to get that low. It might have fallen to 7,000 yesterday.

Oh no! I just checked this thread one last time before starting to pack, and miraculously realized you wrote "delayed another week"! Sept 28 is now the scheduled opening day. So...hmm...I need to scramble to find a Plan B. I already cleared my schedule, so I don't want to sit at home a couple days.

I decided to just go do my thing from the south climber's TH.
It's 5.1 miles from that TH to Bird Creek Meadows TH, so no big deal. ;)

Regarding the snow discussion above: No new snow on the mountain.
