In close proximity, and in similar state of decay, but UPCs show they're not twins.

Pandemic balloon. BPA Road, Forest Park. Just boring red, nothing special.

Inflatable, so I'm calling them balloons.

This was a fruitful day.

Wandering in the snow looking for my trail, I happened to spot a fresh vibrant mylar balloon comfortably ensconced in a treewell. Amazing I spotted it.

Equally surprising was my encounter with a white weather balloon instrument box, camouflaged in the snow. No sign of the balloon. Maybe elsewhere, or maybe under snow nearby. This is the third one I've found.

This one cost me. I spotted it, but it was my partner who grabbed it for disposal. Maybe about 15 minutes later he realized he no longer had the trekking pole I lent him. As we were only vaguely attempting to stay near the snow-buried trail, there was no way to backtrack through the firm dirty snow where we left only faint footprints (also, I suspect we crossed over some bare ground along the way). I would have dashed back up to retrieve it if I knew exactly where it was, but I wasn't willing to spend an hour wandering in search of it with no guarantee of success. Funny that he stopped to collect garbage, and then left even more on the mountain.

Oh well, "these things happen".
