Valley of Fire State Park, NV

Post by markesc » February 2nd, 2020, 8:11 am

Welll, I nolonger live in Oregon! Took a Job in Phx... Thought I'd share a few of the trip down.

Valley of Fire State park is only 40 mins north of Las Vegas, well worth a day of photographing if you're planning to head to Zion later...

Dear Chris:

Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos. What an epic and circuitous route (if you threaded all those beads on one string).

Do remember to throw us a few photos now and again. We can always use a reminder about the other side of the fence.

Wishes for much success to you in Phoenix.

Appreciate it! I already miss the ocean and Mt. Hood on a clear day, but not the rain/cloud cover. Bet I won't say the same come insane heat time!

So far I've done a few hikes in the Superstitions and one overlooking downtown phx (south mt.) Nothing photography wise that's amazing as they have been more middle of the day hikes. It's pretty crazy not having to "plan" for breaks in the weather and just being 15 mins from the Superstitions and being able to hike anytime I have time.

I'll throw in some AZ hikes is people don't mind, and eventually I'll work my way back up North once I have remote work privileges

Looking forward to your AZ hikes. I've always enjoyed your photos.

And you may get to experience the haboob, something we don't have here in Oregon, but which makes for dramatic photos in the desert SW.

I am going to miss your photos of Oregon but it looks like you have a great new playground to explore. I realize this is Oregon Hikers but I hope you'll still post sometimes.

Nevada has more mountain ranges than any state but they are not all that long. Great pictures and blue skies.

Oh! I almost didn't read this post, and then I would have ended up wondering "what ever happened to that markesc guy"?

You'll be missed.

Well, my goal is to change it up, so I'll get you all some Phoenix / AZ hikes to get you through that rain!! I'm sure I'll be missing the forest/ocean once they turn the furnace on here!!
