2019 Snow Level
Re: 2019 Snow Level
Another trick is to search Instagram under #threefingeredjack and look at the recent photos taken to see. You can also comment on the photos and ask the people who posted them to offer insight.

Re: 2019 Snow Level
For what it's worth, here's a couple photos I took from Bachelor Mountain on Wednesday.OneMoreMile wrote: ↑July 6th, 2019, 8:12 amI'm hoping to do the hike around Three Finger Jack in a couple days. Does anyone know how the trail is? I checked with the Forest Service, they said some hikers got lost due to snow around the Minto Pass area but that was a couple weeks ago. Any insight into current snow levels?

Great pictures! Thanks for the replies. We'll give it a go counter clockwise on Monday. I checked Instagram - great suggestion.

I do this all the time while I don't use geotags or specific hashtags myself I take advantage of the people who do! Also I've had some great conversations when reaching out to people on Instagram who have just been hiking someplace or if I'm traveling to a new area. Using social media to actually be social.

The other cool thing is to “follow” hashtags on Instagram. As an example, I follow all the glaciers on Mt Hood and McNeal Point, Barrett Spur, etc. (which is high up) so I can monitor the snow levels visually around the mountain throughout the year.

Lots of snow up on Three Finger Jack. Just on the PCT side, though. Plenty of people getting through - really slows you down. Met several PCT hikers that said Sisters was worse.
Re: 2019 Snow Level
I got up to Table Lake yesterday via the Cabot Lake Trail.
Minimal snow patches around Carl Lake, a few more after Junction Lake but totally passable. The largest snowfield was about 300' long near the high point of the hike between North Cinder Peak and Forked Butte.
I'll hopefully get around to posting a TR within the next day or so.

Re: 2019 Snow Level
yeah, this has been a weird September, normally there are better stretches of good weather.
Re: 2019 Snow Level
August was like September should be and September has been like October should be. So get ready for November to start in a few days.
