Mt. Hood - Gladd Ridge 08-18-2019

Post by markesc » August 19th, 2019, 5:25 pm

Decided to head back to the McNeil area, but explore the ridge just to the east and enjoy a bit of solitude from the masses going up McNeil, was a great day, flowers were doing great, no flies, yet I passed people on the trail complaining about 'em...

Wow, looks weird without snow. I'm sure I must have seen that before, but it's been years.

It's really just that angle you see from that perspective. A lil to the east or west and you'll have glaciers. I wanted to see what it would be like to try to go from McNeil to Barret, but that bottom of the ladd/coe looks questionable for someone going alone like myself

What an awesome area. Thanks for sharing!! I enjoyed your photos greatly.

I recall seeing a couple trip reports over the years that cover Barrett to McNiel. One was by rabid swan and the other was by Fred, detailing a trip he and Thomas took. IIRC, rabid swan's report includes a photo of a way cool camp spot way up there.

Thanks,

Burnside
