I didn't even have to step off Nick Eaton trail to find this fresh one, with intact ribbon.

This balloon had some nice forest accoutrements (stonecrop, pine cones). Looking at the prior picture, it actually looks like both of these balloons were twins, separated at birth; however, this one is an Oregonian from the greater Mt. Defiance area and the other a Washingtonian from the greater Augspurger area. It looks like the Oregonian had a more rough and tumble upbringing.

This one has seen better days, but the accoutrements are holding up well.

Poked around a bit, no balloon, just the ribbon.

I found one on Mt Hood below McNeil Point

I wonder how it's ribbon got over to Mt St Helens?

Caught a little glimpse of silver yesterday in the Gnarl Ridge fire zone. Had to delicately excavate to find a balloon that was black on the outside but silver inside. Still a bit of ribbon attached. Not the first time I've found a mostly-buried balloon because a tiny bit of it caught my eye. Interesting to consider that it was here for many years, offtrail, never to be seen again by humans, but then it was miraculously spotted and unearthed. Imagine the odds.

At 8000+' on Hood, near glacier-polished bedrock, I spotted a bit of string partially buried in glacial till. Hmm. Excavated a bit, and delicately extracted a bit of latex balloon. Almost certainly the highest I've spotted a balloon.

This was almost a balloonless hike, but spotted this maybe 10 minutes from hitting the trail.
