Mt. Defiance - the loop hike 05/26/19

Post by mjanardh » May 27th, 2019, 6:56 pm

With a group of friends did the Defiance trail to the summit and came down the Starvation ridge via Warren lake and then to the Defiance trail cut-off back to TH. It was a 14.41 mile and EG of 5350 hike. Only small traces of snow about 1/2 mile to the summit. The defiance trail has been rerouted in a few places and its a lot better then it used to be before the fire. Overall the trail is in great shape. The starvation ridge side is full of poison oak and I would seriously suggest the people wear proper clothing so they don't come in contact with them.

it is amazing how fast the snow melts ... looks like even a week ago there was quite a bit. But not when I did.

Do you have any examples of this? I don't recall seeing any rerouting when I was up there this past winter/spring.
