Clackamas Riverside Trail

Post by littlefeet » April 30th, 2019, 1:45 pm

We’ve been long absent from the Clackamas/Collowash rivers and decided to head out and check out the old haunts. Greatly surprised at the lack of trash and destruction we were expecting from our last few drives out into that area. We re-discovered some old fishing holes and then decided to try out the Riverside Trail #723. We accessed it in the middle on Forest Road 46 – it connects Riverside and Rainbow campgrounds.

Having driven past it for some decades, it was a nice surprise to find it winding along the Clackamas River with foot bridges and glades of moss with the wildflowers popping out everywhere! Trillium, orchids and so many I haven’t yet memorized.

A nice rocky beach is accessible as well for a lunch break to enjoy the sound of the water rushing by and sun on skin.

It’s a great reminder how blessed we are in the Northwest to have these retreats so close to home.
Life is too short to wear tight shoes!
