Snowshoeing near Hood River

Hello - Coming into town from Seattle in a couple weeks and looking for snowshoeing recommendations on the Hood River side of Mt. Hood. We'll be staying at an AirBnB about 3 miles towards Mt. Hood from Parkdale. We have a 6 & 8 year old so looking for flat, family friendly options.

This site's Field Guide has quite a few options. If you click on area on the map (https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guid ... Hood_Hikes) most of the hikes that start along SR-35 and SR-26 will do, as well as nearby hikes in the Gorge - hikes get more flat the more you go East on I-84. You'll need snow pass for Mt. Hood area. Everything is under deep, fresh snow right now, even in the Gorge (that may change by the time you get there).

I think locals go to Post Canyon a lot.

Catherine Creek area is nice for snowshoeing - not too steep, plenty of views of the snowy Gorge.

We ended up doing a snowshoe at both Trillium Lake and Tamanawas Falls. The kids liked Tamanawas quite a bit more (less complaining!), even though it was much steeper. The day at Trillium was also really overcast so the mountain wasn't out. I had read that Tamanawas can get really icy, but it was totally fine with the snowshoes. We did see a few people without any traction on their shoes which didn't seem all that smart, but they made it to the falls as well.

With the Gorge so snowbound, the old scenic highway bike path between Hood River and Mosier Tunnel might be an option.
