It's here! The 2019 Oregon Hikers Calendar is available for purchase on the TKO website. $25 each (shipping is included in price). Or get it included in your $100 membership. Calendars ship out on December 15.

Here is a sneak peek:

Order placed. I can't have a year without my calendar.

I hate to be the one dissenting voice here, but I feel like something should be said instead of quietly never ordering another calendar.

I'm disappointed in the quality of this year's calendar. Prior years has been on "bound" cardstock and this year's is on stapled medium weight paper. This paper had caused a reduction in image quality. The contrast and saturation are not what I've come to expect from this calendar, nor am I totally jazzed about the 66:12 ratio of trail work party photos to member photos. It was kinda fun to see what other people were doing out there.

It's not a Portland Hikers Calendar any more, it's a TKO calendar. Different goals, making money on calendar sales is now probably more important than it was when it was just a group effort PH calendar.

Yeah, I got that there was a totally different campaign on this, I guess it's just not my cup of tea now. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The calendar has always been a fundraiser although a rather minor one. This year, we've had far more people participate in TKO work parties than who actively participate in the forums, although there is some overlap, so it makes sense to recognize both groups in the production of the calendar.

Anyway, it's a volunteer effort and this year, for various reasons, it got off to a late start with not enough time to seriously pay attention to the best options. The people involved did their best with the limited time they had. If we get our act together much earlier next year, we should certainly try to produce something of a higher standard. I liked the idea of having the trail work pictures for each month, but there are too many, they're too small, and some are too dark to see anything much, so hopefully we'll be a little more discriminating about that as well.

The old format with photos on the calendar grid pages probably wouldn't have worked this year. We wouldn't have had enough to choose from. Many of the submissions were unusable (too low-res, out-of-focus, crooked horizon line, etc.). Lessons learned for next year!
