May 2nd - Gorge Trails talk will be a panel format facilitated by Trailkeepers of Oregon, with special guests from Washington Trails Association and Pacific Crest Trail Association to discuss and view images of the current trail conditions in the fire-affected areas of the Gorge. Learn about the efforts of the Gorge Trails Recovery Team and how you can support these on-going efforts.
Is this going to be some kind of public referendum on when the trails will be reopened? Or just WTA/PCTA/TKO talking about trailwork that's being performed? Will anyone from the USFS be there, or just nonprofits?
These events are held at Lagunitas Community Room (237 NE Broadway) and begin at 6:30pm. Cost is $10 which includes a beer and REI gear / other swag. All proceeds from this event will benefit Trailkeepers of Oregon and Friends of the Columbia Gorge.
...because it sounds like this is mostly a fundraiser. :?:

I'm wondering is there a goal stated or unstated about how much money should be raised before trails are opened to the public again again?

I'm just going to guess that based on what I've seen elsewhere the worst damage is the trail sections with cables and where it is highly exposed, and that the wider areas where most of the camps are saw much more moderate damage. What we've seen in the areas now open farther east are vast slopes covered with scree and rubble that used to have ground cover on them. Send a few good winder storms on such slopes, but steeper, as they are in Eagle Creek, and it's not hard to imagine some sizable slides over the trail.
