Cummings Creek Trail Loop(Cape Perpetua Scenic Area) 2/24/17

Post by LeeFow » February 26th, 2017, 12:57 pm

I was planning on doing a quick overnight backpack in the Cummings creek area. The weather forecast showed it clearing in the late afternoon. I started at the Cummings Creek Trail head at 2:30 pm in the rain. After about 2 miles of hiking it was a heavy wet snow.

By 4:30 pm I had decided to just do a loop back to my car, because it was snowing/raining real hard with no sign of letting up.

I hiked up the Cummings Creek Loop trail connected over to Cooks Ridge trail, went down Gwynn Creek trail to the Oregon Coast trail and connected back to where I started.

It was just about 8 miles with 1600' of elevation gain. Trails had very little blow down and seemed recently cleared/maintained.

Thats a nice hike. Shame the weather turned against you, but sometimes you gotta remember you're doing this for fun and its not always fun to get soaked and wake up in a puddle.

PS - I thought your post was going to be about seeing a coyote after seeing those pictures with your dog.
