Eliot Branch Crossing Status (see last post for update)
Re: Eliot Branch Crossing Status (see last post for update)
I wonder if they will close the old crossing, dig up the trail, plant vegetation, etc.

The old "trail" was never an official trail
It still goes to the moraine on each side of Eliot. There's an unofficial trail that goes way up. Still a nice hike.

Maybe not official, but officially-recognized:retired jerry wrote:The old "trail" was never an official trail

which side was that on, east (Cloud Cap side) or west?
Re: Eliot Branch Crossing Status (see last post for update)
East side, that junction just a bit up the trail from CC. On the west side, there's no corresponding sign, but there is a sign directing hikers to the new trail (see upper right corner of first pic in my post above).

Jerry, it was a signed reroute of the Timberline Trail prior to the 2006 washout. That's why the trail closed signs were in place.retired jerry wrote:The old "trail" was never an official trail

oh yeah, that's right, they put up a seasonal bridge for a couple years, then the larger flood that took everything out and created the gully
