Help TKO complete the finish work to reopen this significant trail!
Eliot Crossing, Timberline Trail
Saturday, October 1, 8:00 AM - Late Afternoon
In 2006, the Timberline Trail's Eliot Creek crossing was washed out, along with a good portion of the trail. The section from Cloud Cap to Elk Cove has been officially closed since that time. This fall, the reroute to the new crossing will be complete! This is over a mile of new trail dropping down to Eliot Creek to a lower crossing point and returning to connect to the old trail.
The new trail has been put in by contractors but some finish work is needed to complete the work: improving drainage, upslope, placing retaining rocks/logs, etc. There will be a work party on October 1 to work on this new trail. Overnight camping will be available at Cloud Cap Saddle Campground on Friday and Saturday.
We will have someone stationed at the campground to direct volunteers to the work areas during the day. You do not have to have trail work experience to help! Tools and safety equipment will be provided. Instruction will be provided by experienced crew leaders. Camping gear (if you choose to camp) and food is up to you.
Crew leaders are from Trailkeepers of Oregon and PCTA. This is a narrow, steep trail without room for large groups to work together, so we will be breaking into small teams. If you have trail crew leader experience and want to help lead a team, please contact a TKO or PCTA representative or email [email protected].

Anyone from SE Portland going to this event? I'd love to catch a ride with someone.
