Re: Idaho
Holy Moly, I guess their not worried about fuel efficiency in Idaho. I had to look this speed up. It gets a -28% efficiency from 55 to 80 miles per hour.

I wouldn't want to hit a deer at that speed. Or an elk. Or a moose. Or anything.

Re: Idaho
Descending into Missoula one night, at about 80mph, a crazed buck (maybe 12-pt?) t-boned us. He was running, without regard to anything, from a wildfire in the woods. Seemed to have just spun off, and kept on moving! Barely any visible damage to our Suburban.Born2BBrad wrote:I wouldn't want to hit a deer at that speed. Or an elk. Or a moose. Or anything.
A bit later that night, as we were checking into a motel, the cops delivered three ladies to the same place. They'd met a bear head-on out on the same highway, and he'd totaled their little Suburu.

Re: Idaho
Haven't been to Idaho for 5 years; back then the limit was 75. Going west into Oregon, there was big concentration of OSP troopers on I-84, bringing in lots of ticket money. Must be even more lucrative now! I wonder if that's why Oregon won't raise the rural speed limit (at least on the east side) to a decent level?

Idaho and Utah both have 80 mph speed limits on certain interstates
