McNeil Point open for Visitors

Post by [email protected] » June 4th, 2014, 5:48 am

Went up to McNeil Point yesterday - what views. The trail from Top Spur is about 90% snow free. Only a little before the 'climber's' trail up the ridge and there are good boot steps. Melted out around the Shelter and can easily do the ridge up above the shelter when is without snow enough to make it higher.

Thanks for the heads up Ted. Is it usually open and nearly snow free this early?

God no.

Well, the area around the shelter itself melts out relatively early because it's so exposed to the sun, but for the rest of it to be 90% snow-free in the first week of June is pretty unusual.

Thanks for the info, Ted!

Has anyone been up around Yocum Ridge recently? I know that the trail there usually holds on to snow a while, but given the year we've had...
