Siouxon Creek 11 April 2014

Post by n.bumppo » April 12th, 2014, 4:28 pm

I took a break from visiting Steigerwald Lake and went on a backpacking trip with friends to Siouxon Creek. The weather was perfect as was the company. The scenery wasn't bad either. I have never been to Opal Creek, but the water of Siouxon Creek was looking like some pictures I have seen of Opal Creek. This is a great destination. The elevation gain is minimal. The distance is manageable (< 4 miles). There are ample campsites all along the creek. Pretty nice for an early trip into the woods.

Lush, beautiful, and spring fresh full. Siouxon, Opal and a few others have that lovely green/cyan, thanks to the geology of the Western Cascades.

The road is paved with a number of annoying potholes.
