Dalles Mountain Ranch 4/26

Beautiful trip. Made the 2 hour journey to Dalles Mountain Ranch after hearing it was in bloom, only to have to turn around. Parking lot had room for half a dozen cars and lot was full at 930am I did get a few pics of the grounds lower from the trail though and I thought I would share so you could get an idea of the bloom!





I'll try again next year for the peak bloom hike, sadly I won't make it back out this year because of work.

Quick question, there is an old rusted car in the middle of a flower patch. Where is this located? Is it up from the trailhead or is it elsewhere on the ranch?

Funny you mention that old car. 2 other photographers out there yesterday were also looking for said car, and we walked around a few miles and didn't see it. It's a big place though, so someone on here knows. I saw a pic of it though. Capt Obvious: "It's near a fence!"

I easily found it on google maps satellite imagery. It's around the buildings. Trying to find it is half the fun. Good luck.

FYI there are several other places to park in that area - at the upper trailhead, down at the ranch, down at the bottom of the canyon by Eightmile Falls...in case you decide to go back.

I was there today, and found a beaver or is it a Marmot? also got caught in a hailstorm on Stacker Butte.

The car is in the second field south of the barn. Head east from there to the draw - marmot warren above the oaks. . . .

Went back on Monday and found it! Also explored the houses and farm equipment displays. It seems there is alot of work going on up near the houses, so I'm looking forward (I think) to watching the place evolve as I return every spring for the incredible flower display. I still think some of the fields right now are the most flowers I have ever seen together anywhere. What an awesome place right now!
