Gorge 1930-31 Airway beacons

Post by CuriousGorgeGuide » June 3rd, 2013, 8:45 am

Lately I've had Airway Beacons on my radar. Any experts out there?? I don't have time to dig-out and post my files here right now, but I thought I'd start a thread and see if anyone is as interested as myself, and possibly way more interested.
The sites I've seen thus far (I Think) are Cape Horn, Beacon Rock, Sweeney's Corner area, Shellrock Mtn, and Lil Mitchell Point.......as well as Rocky Butte and the beacon now on display in front of Hood River's Waaam museum.

Beacon fever...catch it!!......scott

Interesting topic!

Not an expert though. I didn't know they existed until this post :)

Here's a link to a 1931 Airway map showing the general location of airway beacons in the Columbia Gorge.

Not sure if you have already seen these.

I'd never heard of this, either. Very cool.

Thanks, Peabody!
