Bumping into Trail Running Legend BCJ - Elk MT 5.11.13

Post by Eric Peterson » May 12th, 2013, 7:58 am

Just a little mash up from a hike yesterday with Mayhem, we bumped into BCJ on Elk
Mountain in the Kings area. We also met Kyle and Kelan, nice meeting all you guys out there! :)

Edit -

Kind of lazy with pictures/story etc on this one.

Hope Mars doesn't start toe tappin'! :D

Is this one banned in Germany too :D Cool you guys got to meet BCJ out there, seems like he goes out to the Kings/Elk areas quite a bit as well. Was the loose dirt/rock slippery on the way up/down Elk?

Pretty sure it was BJT that passed me coming down Kings yesterday I had my ear buds in and did not here him coming. He seems a very easy going guy.

Was a bit muggy and warm yesterday, lots of cars but I only saw about a half dozen people all day.

Had to grab my sunglasses to watch the video. 8-) 8-) 8-) haha if Crusak went shirtless you'd need welding goggles, or you'd go blind. So that's where you guys went yesterday. It was another warm, humid day. I got to spend the whole day celebrating Mother's Day at the in-laws.

Anyone ready for a WRT thru-hike soon? I know two or five people who might be in. Maybe we should add the Idiot Creek portion to the mix?

Wish I could've made it out there. I just had to sleep in, though. I think I finally hit the trail at 8:50. :)

Nice. Looking at your gpsfly Crusak. http://gpsfly.org/a/1889 I like the multiple ascents/descents. I'm all in.

I know! I was thinking that with this early snow melt it might be difficult to find people interested in a WRT thru-hike at this point in the year.

That track is from my one-and-only thru hike there. about 1/4 of the EG is the climb from the intersection with the Kings Mtn Trail over to the Diamond Mill Bridge. The next hill is from Wolf Creek over to the end, at Keenig Creek.

AH! BTW sorry for the thread hijack-hack guys. :)

I haven't been up Elk Mtn yet this year. I'm slacking. haha

Thread jackers Mars/Crus! :D

I almost didn't make it up Elk Mt. either Crusak, it felt like it was in the upper 80's yesterday on the trail up Elk even though my temp sensor only low to mid 70's for the Elk Mt. ascent...
