Oneonta Tunnel in Gorge will reopen Saturday with celebration, ceremony

For the past 60 years, the Oneonta Tunnel sat neglected and filled with debris. But Saturday, the Oregon Department of Transportation will celebrate its reopening to pedestrians and bicycles and the construction of new parking lot with a ribbon-cutting and community celebration starting at 11 a.m. tomorrow.

ODOT spokeswoman Christine Miles said a shuttle bus will pick up visitors from the parking area at the Ainsworth exit (No. 35) of eastbound Interstate 84 and take them to the tunnel.

It sounds as though they're expecting lots of traffic on the Scenic Highway! I don't plan to fight the crowds Saturday but will certainly go take a look at it next week!
