Backpacking in Eagle Caps

Post by fellwalker » July 16th, 2008, 9:40 am

We are planning a multi day backpack in the Eagle Caps wilderness in eastern Oregon the week of July 28. Any information regarding current snow levels and trail conditions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

We drove through the general area last week, and for the most part, the snow is gone. We were up on top of Mt Howard at 8150', and there were only small patches of snow left, so I'd guess that you will be OK by the end of the month.

fellwalker,

We've got our trip planned for the second week of August - we've never been and this will be our big trip for the year - I'd love to hear a firsthand account of current conditions/experience when you get back!
