Tom McCall Preserve/Rowena Crest

Post by -Q- » July 14th, 2008, 12:52 pm

I am thinking of driving over to hike the McCall Point trail this week. I really enjoy the arid nature of the eastern Gorge. This trail seems pretty short for the amount of drive time though. Any suggestions for alternate hikes in the arid sections of the Gorge? We have already hiked the Deschutes River trail, so would like to try something new.

Thanks!

There are really two hikes from that trailhead, one going up to McCall Point and another dropping lazily down the Rowena Plateau toward the River.

There are quite a few other hikes in the area listed in our Field Guide at http://portlandhikersfieldguide.org/wik ... orge_Hikes

Thanks for the link Steve. I use the 'Find a Hike' link all the time but never saw the main page where you can choose a hike based on the area on the map. Thats super handy!

The Coyote Wall loop over in WA looks really interesting
