Oregon Hikers

Ape cave uses a timed entry permit system. Rec.gov for Ape Cave says tickets are checked at an entry booth, Ape Cave HQ, or the cave entrance. It has to be a costly expense for the forest service to administer the Ape Cave rules. I just assumed compliance was based on the honor system.

Can anyone report how that is actually administered on the ground?
