Snow levels on PCT from Cascade Locks

Post by burnside » June 8th, 2022, 2:47 pm

Does anyone know where the snow starts on the PCT going south from Cascade Locks?

A few weeks ago I hiked the Gorton Creek Trail and hit snow at about 4,000'. I'm wondering if the PCT is any worse/better.

Well that was a few weeks ago and the PCT barely gets higher than that until you go south of Wahtum Lake. I haven't been up there but would bet it is just patchy snow across Benson P and the ridge south.

The Eagle Creek to Wahtum Lake hike report would give you an idea of the snow at the lake. I do know the snow hangs on longer on the route south from Wahtum Lake to Indian Springs/Mountain as well as north to Chinidere Mountain.

I checked out that trip report from Eagle Creek to Wahtum Lake. Looks like there will definitely be snow in the area. I'm going to hike there this weekend and will report back.
