Angel's Rest / Devil's Rest conditions after April snow
Angel's Rest / Devil's Rest conditions after April snow
Has anyone been on the Angel's Rest / Devil's Rest loop trail since the April 11 snow? I have a hike planned for Saturday and am wondering if it's impassable due to either remaining snow or downed trees.

Re: Angel's Rest / Devil's Rest conditions after April snow
We attempted to get to Devil's Rest today via the Palmer Mill side. The snow started at 1300' and quickly increased in depth as we headed upwards. By 1600' it was about 6" deep and 15" deep where we turned back at 2,000'.
At 1400': At 1800', we were making first tracks: At 1900' it was a posthole trek: And in places, we were in over our knees:
First tracks in deep snow! Where we turned around at 2,000' the vine maples and etc. were getting difficult so we called it a day: We were surprised at the depth of the snow, to say the least. If you give this a try, you are going to need snowshoes for sure.
