The fire didn't touch the lake. Its position is wrong on USGS topo maps.

Maybe reverse psychology works on fires too... Call it the Dollar Lake fire and suddenly it won't burn Dollar Lake. :idea:

This should help. A GPS track from one of my hikes. Dollar Lake is about 300 feet to the west of where most maps say it is.

OpenStreetMap, and any map source derived from it (like Gaia or ThunderForest), has the correct position of both the lake and the trail.

I've walked to Dollar Lake not on the trail

If you don't find the trail, just find a route up
