SW Oregon kid-friendly hikes

Hi all,

We're PDXers finally taking some time to explore SW Oregon, and are looking for suggestions for kid-friendly hikes in the area. Specifically, our six-year-old can manage over six miles and 1,000' elevation, but our sweet spot is around three-four miles. We'll be based either at Humbug Mountain or one of the USFS campgrounds, and will definitely be spending some time along the Boardman Scenic Corridor. (And of course we will wear masks and do social distancing when in proximity to others.)

Thanks for your help! And of course if there's some great seafood takeout you'd suggest after a long day of hiking, that would be welcome too...

Humbug Mountain's views were getting pretty overgrown, but when I visited in the spring of 2019 they had just cut down a bunch of trees to open the view back up. Nice hike.

The Port Orford Heads hike is pretty cool and it's short. Nice views and there's a spot where you can look down into a neat little cove.

Sisters Rocks is another fun short hike down there.

Not exactly a hike, but Prehistoric Gardens is right around the corner. Six year olds and dinosaurs get along real good, plus you're out in nature, kinda. They are currently open during COVID19.

Gold Beach is also good if you like picking through rocks and stuff on the beach.

Sandwiches at the Langlois Market were de rigueur 20 years ago, don't know if they are still A Thing.

If you're up to a bit of a drive, the tide pools at Cape Arago (Charleston) or the Big Tree and Elk Creek Falls (Powers). Likewise driving south to see some Redwoods.

And YES to the Prehistoric Gardens!
