Foxglove/Primrose/etc? (Devil's Rest)
Foxglove/Primrose/etc? (Devil's Rest)
I haven't been up to Devil's Rest since the fire - are these trails still extant/usable if one wanted to loop?

Couldn't tell you about Primrose, but certainly Foxglove. I do that regularly. If anything, the bit downhill from Devil's Rest in the muddy gully is greatly improved.

Primrose is still quite doable, if a bit brushy, too. Very different! Views... Tread not necessarily visible...

Good to hear, thank you!

Are any of these areas backpack-friendly? or strictly day hike only?

One problem with backpacking is the trailheads seem to have more break-ins
I've backpacked from Eagle Creek (park next to the hatchery) or Herman Creek (someone stole my gas, cost $200 to fix, or maybe it was just something that wore out from age)
There's more backpacking opportunity from Eagle Creek or Herman Creek. Maybe we have to wait a while for Eagle Creek to recover from fire.
Some day, I'm going to take public transportation to Cascade Locks, then backpack from there. I heard they're increasing the frequency of shuttles through the gorge.

I've been up to angels rest several times and always wonder about the trails that continue onward from there.

If you keep going maybe 1/4 mile past Angel's Rest, there's a nice campsite next to a creek.
There are way too many people on the Angel's Rest trail, but that spot a little further on would probably be good.
Other spots nearby, maybe more off the trail.

I mean, it hadn't rained in forever until the little bit we got today, but there was no mud and easy footing in both the gully and the swamp.
