Russell Lake
I was thinking about doing overnight at Russell Lake in the Jefferson Wilderness, starting at Breitenbush Trailhead. I was hoping someone had some info on current snow depths in that are. Thanks so much in advance!

I can't imagine you can get anywhere close to the trailhead unless you had a snowmobile. That is over 5000'.
If you look at this map (scroll down to Brietenbush Lake), it shows somewhere between 5 and 8' of snow:

Russell Lake? In January?
The road to South Breitenbush TH won't be snow-free until sometime in July.
Russell Lake is still probably 20+ miles of deep snow and/or alpine travel from the nearest plowed/open road... one way.
And once you get there, there won't be anything to see except wide-open fields of snow.
Sounds like a death wish to me, unless you have some extreme mountaineering experience.
Go in July... avoid becoming a statistic, please.
