...for example, heading south on the West Fork // 1820, is the trail up to Ice Lake (1808) clearly indicated, or does one just kind of take the the path heading west/right after about 2 miles on 1820.
I ask because: I'm hiking into the area at night with a headlamp (planning to stop around that trail junction, at 1820-1808).
How well are major trails marked in the Eagle Cap / Wallowas?

The jct from W Fork Wallowa River Tr is large and has signs. It's around 2.3 mi in at a cluster of downed logs in a flat dry area alongside the trail.StarryNight wrote: ↑September 12th, 2018, 8:36 am...for example, heading south on the West Fork // 1820, is the trail up to Ice Lake (1808) clearly indicated, or does one just kind of take the the path heading west/right after about 2 miles on 1820.
Generally the north end of Eagle Cap has decent signage, while signage in the south end and some of the lesser used trails in the heart of the wilderness sometimes leaves something to be desired.
