Timberline trail / Hood to Coast this weekend

Post by Shub » August 21st, 2018, 12:16 pm

A buddy and I are planning on doing the TT Friday to Sunday, but just realized the Hood to Coast starts Friday at Timberline Lodge as well. I know Hood to Coast is a big deal. Should we look at alternative starting points (Meadows)? Or should there be ample parking up at the lodge?

I've done Timberline on the Hood to Coast weekend but parked somewhere else.

It's somewhat arbitrary where you start, so maybe somewhere else is better.

Walking by on the trail is no big deal. I stopped and watched for a while.

Parking should be fine, but perhaps not as close to the lodge as a normal Friday morning, but the vans move in and out quickly. Runners won't be on the trails, but will be heading down the road, which will likely slow your approach. Unless you get there before the first wave starts at 5 am...

What a great weekend for it, though!

This post nails it.

Generally Timberline parking area will clear out as the day goes on. Start times run from 5am-2:45pm, so if you start at 3:00pm, you certainly won't have issues.

Thanks for the replies. Going to face the traffic and shoot to start from the lodge.
