Windy at Badger Lake

Post by christabrews » August 12th, 2018, 10:20 am

I hiked to badger lake yesterday from the Divide Trail. It wasn't windy on the trail, but it was really windy down by the lake. The wind almost took my sandwich. Is it often windy through that valley? I was kind of scoping out the lake as a potential camping spot.

been there once. camped in the vicinity a handful of times. never a wind issue.

my guess the front moving through or something. it's odd how down low can occasionally be really windy but higher isn't.

I've hiked through there a half dozen times and never had any wind. In fact, the most recent time it was a little windy on the approach from the west but dead calm at the lake. As Water said, must have been a front or something.

I've camped there many times, usually in late spring, and had pretty windy conditions a couple times, usually not though. I usually try to camp there before the road opens.
