We're planning a quick weekend trip up to the Middle Santiam Wilderness & the Shedd Camp Shelter. It's a short hike in from the Chimney Peak Trailhead, but the trailhead is at the end of what looks like a very long drive along Soda Fork Road aka NF-2041.
Having trouble finding any info about the quality of the road. Has anybody been up there recently? Is it passable in a AWD hatchback? Thanks!
Middle Santiam Wilderness - Soda Fork / NF-2041 Road Condition?

In case anyone in the future finds this - the road is definitely passable. Bumpy, long, and windy, but no problem for a car with decent ground clearance. Just be sure to take a good map... there are numerous logging spurs that could easily lead you astray.

Thanks for the report.
