I hope this topic hasn't been covered too many times before, but I couldn't find anything in my search of the site. I'm really interested in finding older versions of maps, particularly of the Mt Hood National Forest area. I'm fascinated with seeing where old trails existed or trying to find access to some lakes or monuments don't show any trail system to them (but perhaps once did).
Can anyone help point me in the direction of any of these resources? So far my online search is coming up empty.

you can get old usgs maps
zoom, click "mark points", click on an area, click on the marker, there's a list of different usgs versions you can choose from

YES, I use this page all the time! Great resource for the Mt. Hood area. If you use this link you can zoom into a specific area then choose which old map you want to see for that area.Webfoot wrote:Lots of digitized historical Mt Hood National Forest Maps are freely available from TrailAdvocate.org -- have fun!

I'm familiar with Caltopo, but never seen this feature. Do you have to be a paid subscriber to see the historical map layers? If not could you give me a hint on how to find them?Koda wrote:caltopo has two historical map layers you can turn on....
