Adventurous Hike w/in 2 hours of PDX

Post by tonkhero » March 6th, 2015, 7:50 pm

Looking for an adventurous 10 mile (give or take) hike within 2 hours of Portland. Adventure could come in the form of some snow travel, some routefinding, some scrambling, etc. Don't want to have to rope up, and would prefer off the beaten track/away from crowds. Anything jump to mind?

Thx!

How about Adventure Ridge? Bosterson and Acorn Woodpecker visited it last year, and posted a report around here somewhere.

Unless conditions change, you can still drive there via 46, and if so, I am confident you can drive up to the Crown Lake TH.

Ruckel Ridge is a fun one in the gorge.

Second the Cooper Spur idea if getting high sounds better.

I'd love to go to Yocum at this time of year such a rare opportunity this year. But for a day hike starting at the gate over the Sandy makes it just a tag too long on these short days.

Sorry. Forgot about that pesky gate.
